The heat is on in Northeast Alabama as summer has found us early this year. Well, we’ve got your covered! Air-conditioned dining year round. Doesn’t get any better than that! Prefer the outdoors? We’ve got a covered porch and picnic tables outside under a huge oak tree. Your pets are welcome to eat with you outside and if you’d like, we’ve got a nice big pork bone for them! See, with all the hustle and bustle in our lives these days and all the things we have to keep us entertained and busy, we struggle sometimes to connect the way we used to, without email, cell phones and such. Load up a loved one or the family and head on over to Ole Hickory BBQ. Located on Maysville Road in New Market, Ole Hickory BBQ has been serving the locals for years. The food is everything that’s great about eating at a locally owned restaurant. Everything is made from scratch.

The culmination of many years as a professionally trained chef and culinary developer for a major restaurant corporation, Drew Tyriver grew tired of the corporate grind and fulfilled his dream to open his own restaurant. To this, all that can be said is simply-thank you, sir.

Drew and Denise run Ole Hickory BBQ and serve up some of the south’s best BBQ. But make no mistake, you’ll find no corporate food or flare here. One thing Drew delivers for sure, he keeps it real and keeps it simple. Slowly smoked meats, homemade sides and desserts and welcoming, friendly staff.

Choose from plates with pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, ribs, chicken fingers and catfish. Served with sides of baked beans, potato salad, slaw and a roll. Or “Mix it Up” with 2 or 3 meats and the sides. Try the Big ‘Ol Stuffed Tater, the stuffed garden salad, chicken stew or a must have-the Hickory Dog. Try the double-it’s fantastic!

Top it all off with a slice of homemade pie. Chocolate, coconut or peanut butter. Ole Hickory has a “cake of the day” as well, cheesecake and banana pudding. Hand-peaked pies like this are hard to find, unless you’re in Grandma’s kitchen. If you like thaw and serve food, made by machines, packed in boxes and shipped across the country, this ain’t for you. Only made fresh daily by hand will do here.

Tornado Relief Efforts Underway

As most know, our community suffered yet another series of devastating tornadoes. It was only a short 11 months ago that this community was hit. Many families had just rebuilt their homes and now face devastation again. Ole Hickory BBQ has partnered with Coupon Centsation and Two Friends Gift Shop to collect: toiletries, canned or packaged foods, drinks, etc. for storm victims in our community. Please see the page on the Coupon Centsation site and think about what you may be able to do to help. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who suffered damage yesterday!!

So, we’re not open on the actual Day of Love, but who’s to say that we can’t be lovey this weekend? Drew’s A-MAZING Cupcakes will be available this weekend. Moist, dreamy chocolate cake with an amazing fudge or vanilla icing. Red sprinkles to make them festive! If you’ve had one before, you know they are a slice of heaven. If you haven’t yet and want a glimpse of heaven….come on! ~smiles~
